serenity laughed, this young one was not unlike herself at that age. come on the deffy. there is no big game here, but if we are lucky we will be able to catch a few rabbits coming to drink. she led the way off, to a nearby bush that was large enough to shelter them both. they lay for over an hour, and serenity could see that deffy was becoming agitated. then a rabbit appeared. she held deffy back until the rabbit had reached the water and then released her with the words Go get her deffy! she's all yours!

she lunged out behind the bush, landing near the rabbit. the rabbit, startled, turned to flee...right into deffys awaiting jaws. it was quick, and over. deffy, head high, trotted back to the bush where serenity was waiting. the older faes was grinning, as much as a wolf could. deffy let go of the rabbit, and nudged it over to serenity. unless thers more to come, which i doubt, i would be honoured if you shared this....hearty meal with me and together they quickly devoured the rabbit

well deffy that was a hearty meal, and i thank you for it, however that was far too much for me. here take the whats left of mine. she grinned at her in her wolfy way, and watched as she devoured the remainder of the rabbit. she was a growing pup, and living out here was harde enough for her, withouth the hardship of having no food. she could easily do without, but she would get up early and catch two more, for she now knew where they were hiding, but it would not be long before they had to find a pack to join.

deffy ate, trying to hide her hunger. it was selfish of her to take the bigger half as she divided the hare up into two to share with serenity. she felt ashamed, terribly ashamed. but already she felt as if she had known serenity nearly her whole life. maybe it was the motherly instinct, or deffy's own yearning for another mother. either way, deffy was quite happy with this new wolf she found.

serenity did not know what was happening. she loved this young pup, like a mother loves her cubs, but she did not understand why, after all she had only met her a few hours ago. however she did not bother herself with this, but simply went out to the puddle to clean her muzzle and then re-entered the bush and lay down, licking deffys muzzle to say goodnight

deffy did feel some sort of..bond with this kind wolf. though, it didnt feel awkward in the least..at least to deffy. maybe it was what they both needed, another wolf to love and care for them. deffy stood up and stretched, leaning foreward and back. it was late, too late to hunt, but perfect to sleep. It was dawn, and soon the whole world would be awake. Deffy walked with serenity, to find a better place to sleep.

serenity led her to a hollow, a warm den that she had found and dug into making it deeper, and more importantly safer. she quickly dug out a few more inches, smiling inwardly as defy begun to help, then led the way inside and curled up in a ball around deffy. Goodnight young one. sleep well, and may all your worries fears and bad memories be rid of you for the night. she whispered, then licked her muzzle , as her way of a goodnight kiss.

deffy snuggled closer. just as she closed her eyes, flashbacks again flooded her head. Her mother and her, in the old den. her father, peeking in to see his daughter. Deffy was only 2 moons old, and had just opened her eyes. She saw her father first, peeking in, sunlight streaming in over his head. deffy opened her eyes, looking up to see her father.....but then remembering. slowly, she closed her eyes again. This time, no flashbacks came to remind her of the sadness

serenity slepped soundly for the first time since the fire. no flashbacks or painfull memories came back to haunt her in her dreams, and she dreamt of only the day gone by and the fun she had had with deffy. when she finally awoke it was fell past dawn, but deffy was still soundly sleeping. silently, so not to arouse her, she crept out and found the rabbits hole from the night before. she snathched two of the larger ones and brought them back to the hole for her and defy. she nudged the pup awke and they shared breakfast. today she decided they must leave no mans land, on mksery and pain would be there future here. she told deffy such and head of towards the forest several days walk away, and the inviting smell of other wolves...

it was nice to awake to a meal that required no action on her part. after having her fill with serenity, she stretched yawning. and what are your plans for today? she asked the fae. so many places to go, wolves to meet. she crawled out of the den after serenity. past dawn, the world seemed brighter than in the den. blinking a few times, she looked around. the pool seemed, if possible, smaller than yesterday. her mood dropped as she remembered that she was still without a pack. turning to serenity, she waited for a reply

today young one we shall head towards the forest, towards the neares pack to see if we can join. it is many lopes away, at least three days, and there is no water along the way, so i suggest you drink your fill now, you will need it. she began towards the pool that had shrunk since the day before. she began to drink. there was change in the air, and winter was not far off, less than four moons away. she and deffy had better find and most importantly join a pack soon, or else they will perish here out in no mans land, for the only water source will freeze and what little prey ther is will surely move on. she shook the thought from her mind, and continued to drink deeply, the cool liquid clearing her thoughts and preparing her for the days ahead,t hat will be long and and most deffinately tough.
